It is very hard to miss the words “physician-formulated” on BrainFlo’s label. They are just beneath the supplement’s name which is written in huge letters. To be honest, these two words have been thrown around so much they have become commonplace. For this reason, it has become hard to trust manufacturers that say their supplements have been formulated by physicians. In fact, most supplements that contain these words are subpar.

We were a bit worried when we saw these all too common words on BrainFlo’s label. But after trying out the supplement, we realized that BioFlourish put a lot of thought and research into it. It is a powerful study pill made up of different nootropics.

The only thing we don’t like is that the ingredients aren’t properly dosed and can’t offer maximum benefits.

Claims

BrainFlo is manufactured by BioFlourish, a company that is not new in the nootropic industry. It is owned by Marc Wagner, a doctor and nutritional therapist. BioFlourish gets its name from Marc’s relentless pursuit of human flourishing.

These are BioFlourish’s claims about its product.

  • It eliminates fog and fatigue. It improves your focus and helps you to function at your optimum
  • It enhances focus and helps you to concentrate on tasks. It stimulates the brain, even though it doesn’t contain caffeine
  • It has the ability to boost cognitive health and prevent cognitive decline in adults
  • It enhances mood by decreasing stress levels and increasing mental stamina
  • It supports both short-term and long-term memory, bridging the genetic gap in methylation
  • It is a neuroprotectant and helps preserve neuronal structure and function

But the thing is, many supplement manufacturers make these claims with their products – which are never fulfilled. That’s why we always take time to scrutinize a product before recommending it – or telling you to steer clear of it.

Before we go ahead and tell you whether BrainFlo is worth your money or not, let’s examine it.

BrainFlo’s Ingredients

1.     Methylfolate (266 mcg)

Folic acid, the artificial form of folate, is a vital B-vitamin that prevents neural tube defects in infants. Folic helps keep cells healthy, especially red blood cells. There are different folic acid supplements: L-methylfolate, methyltetrahydrofolate, and levomefolate. These can treat folate deficiency and prevent low folate levels.

Methylfolate can help improve mood, cognition, and general brain and body health. It is also needed for the synthesis of the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. Among all the folates, it is the only one that is able to cross the blood-brain barrier. When levels of folate are low in the cerebral spinal fluid, cognitive decline occurs.

2.     Methycobalamin (133 mcg)

Methycobalamin is a form of vitamin B12. The body uses it to stimulate serotonin production, to improve mood, to protect DNA and RNA, to support energy, and to protect nerve cells and brain cells. It offers neuroprotective and anti-aging benefits and boosts signaling in the central nervous system.

The vitamin B12 derivative protects nerve cells by helping maintain the myelin sheath, the defensive cover that insulates nerve cells and supports nerve function. It eliminates extra homocysteine in the brain. Homocysteine is believed to be the major reason for vascular degeneration in the brain.

Methycobalamin helps regrow damaged nerves, boosting their health and function.

3.     Acetyl-L-Carnitine (166 mg)

This amino acid is naturally created in the body and helps produce energy.

It is superior to carnitine because it can penetrate the protective membrane surrounding the brain and affect the brain’s cellular functions. The blood brain barrier helps maintain a stable environment within the brain by preventing neurotransmitters, hormones, and foreign substances from entering.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine can be helpful in the treatment of mental disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and depression. It is also used for age-related memory decline, thinking problems linked to alcoholism and Lyme disease, poor circulation in the brain, facial paralysis, and nerve pain.

4.     RhodiolifeTM (Rhodiola Rosea) Extract (113 mg)

Rhodiola is used for numerous conditions – like improving mental capacity, energy, and endurance. It is the best natural anxiolytic in the market. It is rich in active compounds, like rosavin, that can help reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol. If you are feeling stressed and you take it, it can quickly get to work and make you feel relaxed.

It is also believed to be an adaptogen that helps the body resist and adapt to chemical, physical, and environmental stress. Research has also indicated that Rhodiola may be neuroprotective and promote longevity. Rhodiola can be used for long periods without causing negative side effects.

5.     Alpha GPC (83 mg)

Alpha GPC, Alpha-glycerophosphocholine, is an acetylcholine precursor that contains choline. It is a cholinergic compound with cognitive-enhancing properties. It can also boost power output in athletes. Research suggests it can support cellular membranes and help prevent cognitive decline.

Alpha GPC is unlike any of the brain’s choline sources because it has a higher bioavailability and crosses the blood-brain barrier very easily, increasing both brain and systemic concentrations of choline. In Europe, it is prescribed for Alzheimer’s. This is because it can reduce cognitive decline and boost cognitive ability. It also increases the production of human growth hormone.

Alpha GPC is one of the best cholinergics and is a common feature in the best nootropic stacks. It is surpassed by only one nootropic – CDP-Choline.

6.     L-Tyrosine (83 mg)

L-tyrosine is one of the amino acids needed by the cells during protein synthesis. It is used to produce dopamine and noradrenaline. These neurotransmitters are linked to learning, memory, and focus.

The body can also manufacture this amino acid from phenylalanine. L-tyrosine has the ability to quickly cross the blood-brain barrier and get into the central nervous system.

During periods of acute stress, noradrenaline gets depleted. Supplementing with L-tyrosine can help lower stress and replenish stress-induced memory deficits. According to research, L-tyrosine can prevent cognitive decline caused by physical stressors.

7.     Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract (40 mg)

One of the top-selling focus supplements, Gingko Biloba has the ability to enhance cognitive function and lower anxiety. The extract is obtained from dried green leaves of the plant. It can improve cognitive function, mood, energy, memory, and help manage the symptoms of some conditions – like ADHD, dementia, and Alzheimer’s.

When you supplement with Gingko, you find it easy to concentrate on tasks. By increasing blood flow to the brain, it can enhance both short and long-term memory. the brain supplement increases the brain’s oxygen and nutrient supply, helping prevent memory loss.

Reviews

There are many reviews on BrainFlo, both by nootropic experts and users of the supplement. We recommend going through the reviews before deciding if this focus supplement is worth a try.

Conclusion

No question about it, BrainFlo contains very good ingredients. The only problem is they aren’t dosed well enough to be effective. While they are high-quality nootropics, they offer no great benefits because they are under-dosed. For instance, the stack contains 83 mg Alpha GPC while the minimum effective dose is 100 mg per day.

We like the fact that the cognitive enhancer doesn’t contain ingredients with dangerous side effects. Most of the people who take it will experience no side effects whatsoever.

While BrainFlo isn’t a bad supplement, it isn’t a powerful one either.
